Nearly 400 people have been arrested after six days of riots in parts of England and Northern Ireland , police say.

Police were attacked in Plymouth as they attempted to keep rival protesters apart.

In Birmingham , petrol bombs were thrown at officers in Belfast and police dealt with unrest in Birmingham .

In Plymouth , police said there had been a "level of violence" shown towards officers.

111 people were arrested in central London on Wednesday evening .

Offences included violent disorder, assaults on officers, possession of weapons and breach of protest conditions.

Police say 43 arrests have been made so far in Middlesbrough and Sunderland .

Sir Keir announced a "standing army" of specialist police officers would be ready to be deployed in the event of further riots.

Downing Street says no plans for the military to be involved.
